Student Safety

Cambridge is a great place to live and work but it's not immune from crime. Each year a significant number of students are robbed or assaulted so it's well worth taking some time to think about personal safety. This isn't just a consideration for women students but for everyone, regardless of your gender, age, sexuality or college location.

Each year 1/3 of University students become a victim of crime

This website is intended to provide useful information about how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime and stay safe whilst at Uni. For more information about anything featured here, please contact the CUSU Welfare Office in complete confidence.

Theft, criminal damage and burglary account for 70% of crimes against students

If you have recently been affected by crime, support is available. In particular, we have a page about how to report a crime to the Police. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Because this is an anonymous service no one will ever know you've made a call and you'll never be asked to appear in court or to make a statement.

Men are three times more likely to be mugged or assaulted than women.
