STIMULUS (Science, Technology, Informatics & Mathematics Undergraduate Links between University & Schools) [STIMULUS]
STIMULUS is a community service programme, giving university students the opportunity to work regularly with pupils in local schools, assisting experienced teachers. Volunteers normally help the same classes each week so that they get to know the pupils. They choose the age range of pupils and opt for Science, Mathematics, Information Communication Technology (ICT) or Technology classes. As well as supporting the work of class teachers by helping individuals and small groups, volunteers wishing to do so may plan and carry out short practical projects with groups of pupils. Medical Sciences students can also help in Personal Social and Health Education lessons. All volunteers will need to have an Enhanced CRB disclosure before starting any placement - STIMULUS will organise this.
