Queens' College Graduate Choir
Queens’ College Graduates’ Choir is a vocal ensemble specifically for current and recent graduates of the College. Around 25-strong, this choir performs a wide variety of music, from sacred motets to pop classics (one recent performance of The Lion Sleeps Tonight was especially memorable…).
There are regular opportunities to perform in College – the MCR Dinner and Garden Party, and end-of-term parties in the President’s Lodge – and the Graduates’ Choir also sings occasional Compline services in Chapel. The Graduates’ Choir membership represent a broad rage of ages, subjects and singing experience, and emphasis in rehearsal is placed on improving as singers, exploring the choral repertoire, and having fun! Led by Madeleine Lovell, Queens’ College’s Director of Music (who is also a regular chorus master for, among others, the BBC Symphony Chorus and Philharmonia Chorus), the Graduates’ Choir meets every Thursday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.
There are no auditions – all that’s required is a desire to sing (and the ability to make animal noises should the need arise…).
