Cambridge Gamelan Society [CGS]

A small friendly group that meets weekly (Tuesdays, 7.30-9.30) to learn and perform the traditional music of central Java on the University's gamelan, currently housed at West Rd. Tuition is given by Robert Campion of the South Bank Gamelan, London. No prior musical experience necessary. All welcome. Recent concerts include music by Lou Harrison, a performance with a Javanese dancer, and a Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet) performance.
