This session will examine how the global issues differ from those at "home" and what methods have been used to help people in less developed countries combat the increasing threat of HIV and AIDS. It will also highlight how local work is helping those globally to fight the issue.

This session will examine examples of how HIV and AIDS disproportionately affects people of certain communities, considering the roles played by gender and sexuality in the transmission and perception of HIV and AIDS both in the UK and globally. It will also focus upon strategies to combat the negative image and create an accepting environment for people with HIV and AIDS.

This session will examine how the media approaches, and impacts on our perception of, people and issues surrounding HIV and AIDS . Discussion will also touch on what images they have helped to construct, and how these positive or negative imapcts may be further addressed.

This session will examine how the National Sexual Health Strategy is intended to impact the country on a national scale, its aims and methods of implementation. We will see how the picture in Cambridgeshire is unique and what initiatives and activities are already in place to combat HIV and AIDS and generally increase awareness about sexual health in the local area.
Session Format
Each session features a panel of speakers drawn from a range of different backgrounds within the subject area,. Each panel member will be present a brief outline of their work and views with relation to the session. The session will then be opened up to the audience to ask questions and insight debate between the panellists on different areas and topics.
Conference Location
All sessions will take place in the Palmerston Room, St. Johnıs College, Cambridge. Directions are available from the Porterıs Lodge situated on Trinity Street. Please note that there are no car-parking facilities available at the College. For further information about getting into and around Cambridge see here.
The conference is a non-profit making event, and is kindly supported by the Cambridge University HIV and Sexual Health Working Group and in part by Cambridge University Students Union (CUSU). A resource table, featuring materials about all the issues addressed, and organisations present, at the Conference will be available in association with Cambridge DHIVERSE.
