Information for stallholders
Welcome all.
The CUSU Societies' Fair 2006 will take place at the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Hall on October 3rd and 4th. The Fair will be open to the public between Tuesday 12pm-7pm, Wednesday 10am-5pm. There will be a special needs hour 12-1pm Tuesday.
The whole event should be a very fun and useful couple of days, and information about the Fair is included. Please keep on checking this website for updates as we approach the dates of the Fair, which will constantly be updates with information and advise. Really feel free to email any queries to the CUSU Services Officer, or of they are business related, to the CUSU Business Manager.
At the fair itself, a large number of marshalls (mainly the CUSU Executive) will be present and circulating, and should be anyone's first port of call for any information. If they are not visable, there will be at least one marshall at all times at the two CUSU stalls (A1 and N8.)
List of approved stalls
See the list of approved stalls and where they are situated, and the layout of the fair.
If you have already made an application, you can also check the status of the application by loggging in to the Directory, clicking on 'Societies I manage', and following the link given.
The timetable, admissions and set up
Student Society and Charity stallholders will be admitted at 11 am on 3rd October, to start setting up stalls. Stallholders and workers should enter through the specially marked door, rather than queue up through the main entrance. This is found at the pool side of the car park; the first door on the left (has a lift and is painted pastel green/blue). We are using 3 of Kelsey Kerridge's rooms this year so please make sure that you and your helpers set the example and do not disturb the staff and paying customers trying to use the other areas.
Please have set up done by 12 pm, for students with disabilities and student parents.
Doors will be fully open at 1pm. Last entry at 6.30 pm, with the public out by 7 pm, and stallholders to follow after. Everyone out by 8pm. Please leave the hall as clean as possible. There will be recycling facilities available, including that for plastic bottles, so please don’t throw empty water bottles in the bins. Plastic bags will be handed out to rows so that you are able to clear up, if you need more, please contact a marshal
On 4th October, set up starts 9.30am with doors being opened at 10 am. Last entry is 4pm, when all stallholders will be issued with bin bags to start cleaning up. The public will be out by 5pm. At the end of Tuesday you will need to take away everything you brought with you. Please do not leave anything behind, if you would like to throw something away, please use the binbags provided or recycle it.Before you leave, please collapse your chairs and move them to the sides of the main hall, and collapse your table. Marshals will be on hand to direct you in returning your table. Please DO NOT leave them in the middle of the halls.
Societies at the Fair are required to abide by the Rules and Regulations, and must confirm this when applying. Please make sure you read these. Further, if you are bringing electrical equipment, please ensure the equipment has passed a valid safety-test within the last year before the Fair. There should be an official note or sticker on the equipment signifying this. The maintenance department in your college should be able to do this. Kelsey Kerridge can do it on the day, but would prefer not to, and charge a significant fee. Please contact the CUSU Services Officer with any queries about this.
The stall that societies are given solely consists of the table space, which will be marked in advance, and two chairs. Societies are responsible themselves for bringing in any posters or flyers, and for bringing a backboard if one is desired.
Stall Allocation Explanation
More societies have applied to this Societies Fair than in recent years, and not all societies have been given a stall. This is unavoidable, but if any societies pull out, these other societies will be given those stalls.
As so many societies applied, we have had to add two extra rows of stalls in Fenners Gallery, on the upper floor, as this was the only way to increase space.
Nearly all stalls who applied for electricity at their stall have been assigned an electrical supply. This explains some of the idiosyncracies of rows L, M and N, as for production reasons, electricity can only be supplied to a limited number of rows.
Feel free to email the CUSU Services Officer with any queries.
Health and Safety
For stallholder, health and safety is evern more important, than for the students passing through the fair, and so reading these notes becomes more important.
There will be a large number of society marshalls (mainly CUSU Executive members) all around at the event, who will be wearing marked blue t-shirts, and they are the first people to contact if you are at risk, or if you see anyone else in any risk. This risk may be a medical problem, a fire hazard is evident, or some individuals are acting aggresively.
Throughout the event, a team of St. Johns Ambulance First aiders will be on hand to aid in any medical situation, and if needed can be contacted through one of the marshalls.
There will also be a number of trained security personnel on hand as well, who again can be contacted through the society marshalls. In the event of an emergency (such as a fire), the marshalls and Kelsey Kerridge staff, will direct people through the relevant emergency procedures.
For further details of the events risk assessment and risk prevention measure, please contact the CUSU Services Officer.

Extra stall (Main Hall)
Please contact the CUSU Services Officer if interested in leaving a sign up sheet on the stall.
For stallholder, a paper document must be emailed to him before midday on Monday 2nd October, that will be left on the stall, and returned to the stallholder by the CUSU Services Officer on Thursday 5th October.
Parkers Piece (outside)
For stallholders, a marshall will be present at all times to address any queries. Space on the grass is first come first served but as there are not too many societies, this should be less of a concern. If dropping of large equipment by vehicle, the gates to Parker's Piece will be opened at 9.30 am on 3rd Ocyober. The gates are on Parkers Piece, on the side near the junction of Hills Road, Regent Street and Lensfield Road. Societies can begin setting up from 9.30 am, but the times of the fair in Kelsey Kerridge should be noted, as these times will dictate passers by. On the 4th October, the gates will be opened at 9, and societies can set up from then. Societies should start packing up at the same time as the fair in Kelsey Kerridge, and follow all other instructions in regards to the end of the fair. A limited number of tables and chairs are available if a society marshall is asked.
