Cambridge University Taekwondo Club [CUTKD]
Taekwondo - meaning 'The Way of Hand and Foot' - is a Korean martial art. It is the fastest growing martial art in Europe and the largest in the world. The emphasis is on developing powerful, dynamic kicking and hand techniques, though a variety of locks and breaks are taught as self-defence.
In CUTKD we compete in the full-contact WTF style of Taekwondo and CUTKD enjoys a wide range of competition. We also teach some flashier, more acrobatic techniques for our demonstration work. During term-time various types of training are organised seven days a week; there is also an extensive holiday training calendar.
Social events are a major part of CUTKD, with dinners, barbeques, clubbing and plenty of chilled-out pub get-togethers happening throughout the year.
