Cambridge University Judo Club [CUJC]
The biggest, oldest, friendliest and most successful martial arts club at Cambridge - if not at any British University. We welcome both students and non-students.
The club includes everyone from total beginners to competitive Black belts, all coached by experienced and BJA-qualified Black belt coaches.
Things we regularly do include:
-The Varsity match vs. Oxford.
-Compete in the annual British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships.
-Regular exchange visits with the judo clubs of Marburg and Helsinki Universities. We have established a three-way link with these clubs, allowing them to drink us under the table after we beat them at judo.
-Host and attend a range of events, competitions and socials: from lavish annual dinners, to formal swaps, garden parties, nights out clubbing and weekend trips away to competitions.
It is also a great bunch of diverse people.
Training is free for the first two sessions (and very cheap after that) so do come along just to give it a go. Bring a judo suit if you have one, or bring a sturdy top and trackies if not.
Sessions are at Fenner's Gym (just round the corner from Kelsey Kerridge)
Training times for 2011:
Tuesdays 8-10 (Technique and Randoori)
Thursdays 6-8 (Beginner friendly)
Saturdays 4.30-7 (Technique and Randoori)
We also train at Comberton Judo Club's Randoori session on Wednesdays, 8-9:30.
