What is "Central Europe"? A geographic region: between the Alps and the Russian plains, between the Scandinavian and the Balkan Peninsulas? A historic notion: the heirs of the multinational and multilingual Habsburg Empire? A political term: former countries of the Soviet Bloc, now on the way to NATO and EU membership? A cultural idea: a peculiar blend of Germanic and Slavonic, Latin and Magyar, Catholic and Orthodox, Calvinist and Jewish? We do not attempt to define Central Europe, we just want to offer an open forum for all people who feel they belong to this undefined part of the world or are in any way interested in it. We organise parties, concerts, poetry readings, talks, formal halls and films. We also work together with our "neighbouring" societies, including Slavonic and Eastern European, Scandinavian and Ukrainian Societies..
