Cambridge University Amnesty International [CUAI]

Cambridge University Amnesty International is a student group of Amnesty UK, and part of the worldwide movement of Amnesty. Throughout term we write letters in college letter writing meetings for cases of people who are in immediate danger of torture or execution or who have undergone arbitrary detention, and we also hold campaigns around the university and town a couple of times a term. Campaigns consist of actions such as letter-writing meetings and events to fundraise or to give people a chance to engage with the issues in more depth. The issues Amnesty campaigns upon range from refugees' rights to LBGT rights to stopping violence against women to getting an international arms trade treaty to stop the unregulated transfer of weapons.
