Target Teachers

What's it all about?

The idea for Target Teachers came from difficulties many volunteers were encountering when dealing with teachers. Often it is the teachers, rather than prospective students, who hold the highest degree of prejudice against the University.  Their opinions and information about the University often dates from the time they themselves were students, and the University was less diverse than it is today.

CUSU sends out information about all the Access schemes that we run in the post to every sixth form in the country once a year.  However, this is often disregarded and only seen by one teacher.

The Open Days and the new Comprehensive Campaign set aside time to talk specifically to teachers, to give them the information to be able to support their candidates.

There is still much work to be done.  If you have any ideas of schemes that could be run to help break down teacher prejudice and make sure that they are informed of the reality of life at Cambridge, the CUSU Access Officer would love to hear from you.
