The Education Network coordinates education-related campaigns throughout the university. It contains two important bodies: the Faculty Forum which consists of all student members of Faculty Boards and the Colleges Education Network which allows all JCR, MCR and College Student Union members with education-related positions to meet.
Who's Who and What's What?
Find out the structure and the organisation of the Education Network and see how it helps co-ordinate over 120 student representatives (both college and faculty based).
The Faculty Forum
The Faculty Forum meets regularly to allow student Faculty Board members to meet and discuss current topics. It approved a revised constitution in Jaunary 2008 and details of its meetings are available for all CUSU Members. A membership list is also now available so that CUSU members can find out who their representatives are.
An important current campaign for the Faculty Forum is an attempt to phase out the practice of "reserving" business within Faculty Board Meetings. More information can be found in this discussion paper on the subject. In 2007, following discussion with the University, a memorandum was issued by the University's Education Section, which called for more appropriate use of Reserved Business in Faculty Board Meetings.
The College Education Network
This is a body which invites all College Student Union Education and Academic Affairs Officers to frequent, informal, meetings so that important issues can be discussed on a cross-college basis. Details of recent meetings are available as is a discussion paper on supervisor training written for the Network.
