Class Lists
More information on how to remove your name from a public Class List can be found in the Education Campaigns section of the website.
All results will be published and displayed in the form of the Class List. This will be displayed in the notice boards outside of the Senate House.
Your Faculty or Director of Studies should be able to tell you the date and time when your results will be published and this information should also be available on CamSIS and on the boards outside the Old Schools (in Senate House Yard, at the opposide side to the University Church). You should know, however, that publication of results can be delayed.
If a candidate has failed the exam, and thus does not appear in the Class List, then they should be informed through their College before the list is displayed publically.
The Class List is printed by Tripos in the following order:
- Class I (and candidates who have received 'starred firsts' (distinctions) will have an asterisk (*) by their name)
- Class II division I (i.e. a 2:1)
- Class II division II (i.e. a 2:2)
- Class III
- Declared to have Deserved Honours
- Granted an allowance towards the Ordinary B.A. Degree
- The following, who is not a candidate for honours, has been granted an allowance towards the Ordinary B.A. Degree
- The following, who is not a candidate for honours, has satisified the Examiners
All names are published in alphabetical order within each class.
There may, exceptionally, be circumstances in which there is a case for a student requesting the withholding of their results from a Class List. Such exceptional circumstances could include a serious and real threat to the student's physical health or safety.
Any student who believes he or she may have such exceptional circumstances should contact their Senior Tutor. The student will be expected to provide evidence to support any factual assertion e.g. harassment by a third party. The Senior Tutor will then submit a representation to the University's Applications Committee on behalf of the student.
Where a Class List does not include the names of all successful candidates, it will be stated on the Class List that it is not a complete list of successful candidates and does not include the name of any successful candidate who has established an entitlement to have his or her results withheld from publication.
All results are later published in a Special Edition of the University Reporter which comes out during the summer vacation.
